About Centrecare

The Role
Centrecare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Consultant to join our Family Dispute Resolution team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the voices and experiences of children are heard and respected during and after family separation.
Working closely with Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners, Parenting Educators, and the Program Manager, the Child Consultant delivers child-inclusive and child-focused services to help improve parenting relationships and outcomes for children.
A Few Specifics:

  • Conducting therapeutic child and parent interviews and providing feedback to parents as part of the mediation process.
  • Delivering early intervention services and individual support to children.
  • Facilitating group education programs for children and co-facilitating parenting groups.
  • Assessing and responding to risks including family violence, child protection, and mental health concerns.
  • Participating in community education and program evaluation.
  • Maintaining accurate records using Centrecare's client management system.
  • Supporting team members and contributing to the delivery of client-centred services aligned with Centrecare’s Therapeutic Framework.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Social Work.
  • Experience in Child Inclusive and Child Focused Practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in therapeutic assessment and case management.
  • Experience and knowledge of domestic violence and family law.
  • Knowledge and experience in early intervention and prevention program services.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and evaluate personal and relationship education programs relevant to children.
  • C class driver's license.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • National Police Clearance.
  • Flexibility to work one evening shift per week (12pm-8pm) Tuesday to Thursday.
