About the Role
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the successful planning, contract execution, budget control and delivery of projects from initial award to client handover. This role involves managing on-site project activities, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and schedule standards. The Project Manager ensures projects align with the organisation's objectives and values, while complying with established policies and adapting to new procedures as they evolve.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain constructive relationships with Client representative and other key project stakeholders.
The Project Manager must excel in a high-visibility role, consistently demonstrating professionalism in line with Farrelly Construction Services Pty Ltd standards.
Contract Management, Oversee the administration of contract terms, project documentation, and deliverables to ensure compliance and completion.
Budget and Cost Control, monitor project financials to ensure spending aligns with budgetary constraints and financial goals.
Quality Assurance, ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards and specifications as outlined in the contract and ISO9001
Risk Management, Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimise impact on scope, cost, and timeline.
Safety and Compliance Management, ensure all activities comply with safety regulations and organisational policies to maintain a secure work environment.
Team Leadership and Development, Guide and motivate the project team to ensure alignment with project objectives, fostering a productive work environment.
Managing onsite personnel, inductions and skill requirements for projects.
Report on project activities and progress, identify issues, and proactively manage risk to ensure timely and informed decisions.
Implement measures to sustain and improve the performance of your team to deliver effective and efficient work outcomes.
Knowledge:
Design and Technical Knowledge, Sound understanding of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precise technical plans, drawings, and models.
Construction Industry Knowledge, Familiarity with construction materials, methods, tools equipment and plant used in the industry.
Project Management Knowledge, Strong grasp of Project Management principles and the ability to apply them across projects of varying sizes.
Contract Management, Strong knowledge of contract terms, compliance requirements, and construction laws.
Budget and Cost Control, Familiarity with budgeting, financial management, and cost-control principles.
Risk Management, Experience with risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and problem-solving in a construction context.
Stakeholder Communication, Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site teams.
Essential Skills and Experience:
The successful applicant MUST have SMP and Civil Construction knowledge, financial knowledge and understanding of contractual requirements, Project Administration, Health and Safety Regulations, Environmental Regulations
Project Management Experience in Coal Industry
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mining, Mech, Civil) and/or
Educational Requirements, bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, and/or relevant Project Management Certification. Supervisor Training (S123 / G189 &G2). Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
10+ years in a similar role within the contracting and/or mining services industry
Experience in construction of CHPP/material handling infrastructure
A commitment to WHS&E and Quality management systems
High attention to detail
Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
Promoting an improvement culture
Trouble shooting and problem solving to competently satisfy the project plan
NSW Residence (no fly in/out available)
Current Drivers Licence
OHS White Card
Basic first aid certification
Desirable Criteria:
Diploma or Certificate in Leadership and Management, equip managers with advanced skills in team leadership, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
Professional Communication Courses, Advanced communication skills are valuable for effectively liaising with clients, stakeholders, and teams.
Advanced First Aid Certification, Advanced first aid skills beyond basic requirements, including CPR or construction-specific safety training.
Mental Health First Aid Certification, provides skills for identifying, understanding, and responding to signs of mental health issues among team members, fostering a supportive workplace.
Education in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Understanding procurement processes, supply chain logistics, and vendor management for efficient resource handling.
