We are looking for a dynamic and innovative education professional to join our team, contributing to programs that connect students, teachers, communities, and organisations across local, national, and international levels. This role plays a vital part in delivering educational initiatives that promote awareness and inspire action for the Great Barrier Reef. Including the enhancement and further development of flagship projects like the Reef Guardian School Program and Portal (www.reefed.edu.au).

The position plays a key role in developing, designing, and delivering curriculum aligned resources that support teachers to implement reef education into the classroom. Collaborating with a supportive team this will include developing and enhancing digital learning opportunities to create and deliver engaging resources such as unit plans, teaching material, activities, online content, videos, and interactive learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver innovative, curriculum-aligned reef education content and experiences.
• Engage diverse audiences through a multiplatform education approach, including print, web-based content, face-to-face and online presentations, videoconferencing, experiential learning, and social media platforms.
• Drive continuous improvement across Reef Authority education programs, with a focus on strengthening Reef Guardian School educational products.
• Provide expert advice and technical knowledge on education practices, including the Australian Curriculum, STEAM, virtual delivery methods, content development, and reporting platforms.
• Deliver SMART reporting on educational programs and activities to senior management and external stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing the Reef Authority and collaborating on education policy, projects, and operational initiatives.

About You

• You hold a tertiary qualification in Education and have previous experience in marine biology, science communication or a related environmental science discipline.
• You are an analytical and results-driven professional who sees tasks through to completion. With demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining strong relationships, you are committed to enhancing educational experiences and opportunities.
• A creative practitioner, you bring expertise in designing and delivering educational programs, resources, immersive experiences, and interactive exhibitions using a range of platforms, including leading-edge technologies.
• You thrive under pressure, maintain a strong eye for detail, and manage competing priorities with composure and efficiency. Your resilience and team-oriented mindset make you a valued contributor, with the ability to lead and inspire those around you.
• You excel at aligning operational activities with organisational objectives, ensuring tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard.
