Company overview:
A Government agency responsible for delivering insurance and care services to people across the state, particularly those impacted by workplace injuries, motor accidents, and dust diseases. It manages some of the largest insurance schemes in Australia and plays a key role in supporting recovery, return to work, and long-term care.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of the Workers Compensation risk and assurance program, ensuring alignment with internal frameworks and external regulatory requirements.
• Provide expert risk advice to leadership, oversee assurance activities, manage audits, and support the development of effective controls and governance practices.
• Manage third-party risk frameworks, including reviews, updates, and assurance activities, while supporting transformation initiatives through risk-in-change assessments.
• Produce risk insights and reports for senior leadership, participate in key committees, and lead targeted stakeholder engagement across areas like customer feedback, procurement, and technology.
• Guide and develop the risk team, driving the implementation of a strong first line of defence strategy and collaborating with second and third lines to strengthen overall risk maturity.

What you'll need to succeed:

• At least 8-10 years of experience in the Financial Services industry in an Operational Risk role with ideally some experience in workers compensation/schemes/benefits
• Experience in Risk-in-Change is highly desirable
• Proven track record in crafting risk reports for executive-level audiences
• Great communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders
• Experienced in leading teams and people management will be an added advantage
