The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Government Relations Officer to lead and deliver complex legislative reform initiatives. This pivotal position will support the development and implementation of modern, effective legislative solutions that align with strategic policy goals. Working within the Strategic Policy and Legislative Services team, you will be instrumental in navigating government processes, drafting policy and legislative material, and ensuring timely progression of key reforms through the Parliamentary system.

You

You are a strategic thinker with a strong background in government relations, public policy, or legislative development. You bring exceptional written and verbal communication skills, political acumen, and a collaborative mindset. With experience working in or with government departments, Cabinet processes, or Parliamentary Counsel, you can influence internal and external stakeholders and deliver high-quality policy outcomes in complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex legislative and policy reform projects from concept through to enactment
• Provide authoritative advice on legislation, regulatory frameworks, and policy direction
• Prepare briefings, Cabinet submissions, drafting instructions, and strategic documentation
• Collaborate with key stakeholders including Parliamentary Counsel, Cabinet Office, and departmental executives
• Monitor, manage, and report on legislative progress and policy impact
• Ensure alignment of legislative activities with agency goals and broader government priorities
