Shape WA's energy future and enjoy a career you can be proud of

It's an exciting time to work in the energy industry, with extensive opportunities for long-term personal and professional growth.

As we deliver energy solutions across the largest geographical area of any Australian power provider, we listen to and work with our communities, our customers and our team. We're responding to the challenges presented by a changing climate and leading the transition to a low carbon, renewable energy future.

We're privileged to work with, live alongside and respect the culture of First Nations peoples who first understood the energy of this land.

Senior Project Engineer
Joining our team means you'll be part of something that really matters. As our Senior Project Engineer, you will be based in Bentley, and responsible for developing front-end engineering design solutions for renewable energy projects to decarbonise regional WA microgrids and the North-West Interconnected System. In this role you will provide end-to-end technical leadership in the delivery of major energy projects, from concept through to oversight of outsourced detailed design, and through construction and commissioning.

This is a permanent full-time position with some travel to the regions (several times a year). Your new team has a shared focus on sharing technical knowledge, supportive of one another and is collaborative.

Your role will include:

  • Designing and developing Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) solutions, while leading the engineering execution of large-scale energy projects
  • Evaluating engineering deliverables to ensure alignment with defined scopes, timelines, and quality standards
  • Delivering customer-centric engineering and technical support by providing expert advice, tailored recommendations, and practical solutions
  • Fostering and sustaining strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including Energy Planning, Business Development, Engineering Standards and Plant, Project Management, Operational Technology, System Operations, and Regional Asset Managers
  • Providing engineering endorsement and formal approval of technical documentation, including drawings, reports, standards, derogations, and dispensations

You will have:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Eligibility for corporate membership of Engineers Australia
  • Significant experience in an electric utility design role
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively build relationships with customers, key stakeholders, peers and colleagues
  • Significant experience with transmission and/or distribution line design
  • Effectively work within a multi-disciplinary project team, engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to safely deliver projects to the approved quality, cost and schedule

Our employees enjoy real rewards and recognition including:

  • Working on impressive renewable energy projects across WA
  • Helping to create a connected and thriving WA
  • An extensive rewards and recognition program
  • Access to our award-winning health and wellbeing program
  • Flexible working arrangements

Our workplace culture is created through every interaction, every experience and everything we do.
Across our organisation, we recognise and reward people and offer work that works with you. We're committed to equality and celebrate the diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, and all characteristics that make our Horizon Power team so special. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
