Assistant Manager – Maternity Leave Contract
📍 Yarraville, VIC | 🕒 Full Time (Fixed Term) | 💰 (Level 5.1 PCS Agreement)
Contract: 21st July 2025 – 20th March 2026 (with handover either side)
Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday + 1 RDO per month

About the Role:
This is a leadership role focused on maintaining operational stability, compliance, and staff support. We’re seeking someone who communicates with clarity and warmth, handles pressure with calm professionalism, and upholds a respectful workplace culture. You’ll support the Centre Manager with oversight of operations while leading key responsibilities relating to safety, medical management, enrolments, and team wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate day-to-day centre operations, including rostering, compliance and reporting
Lead staff with integrity, provide support, resolve issues, and foster professional growth
Confidently manage difficult conversations with staff or families when needed
Ensure the centre meets all obligations under the National Law, Regulations, and Quality Standards
Oversee all aspects of OHS, food safety compliance, and medical condition management, including documentation and staff training
Manage the enrolment process, maintain communication with waitlisted families, conduct centre tours, and ensure vacancies are minimised
Uphold strict confidentiality, set a professional tone, and actively maintain a positive workplace culture
About You:
Diploma or higher in Early Childhood Education & Care
At least 2 years’ experience in a leadership or management role in the ECEC sector
Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills
Highly reliable, organised, and calm under pressure
Confident with systems, compliance, and independent decision-making
Familiarity with Educa and QikKids is advantageous
