About the Role
We are seeking applications for a Sample Receipt Officer to join our modern, NATA-accredited laboratory. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming samples, ensuring they are logged, processed, and managed efficiently. You will play a vital role in sample integrity and customer service while collaborating with both clients and laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Management: Unpack, check, and accurately log samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring all information is recorded correctly.
- Customer Service: Respond to general customer enquiries via phone and email, including booking couriers, organising bottle orders, and providing advice on sample containers and preservatives.
- Logistics & Supply Management: Prepare and manage sample containers and project supply orders to ensure laboratory efficiency.
- Lab Coordination: Work closely with laboratory staff to prioritise and promptly pass on urgent samples.
- Quality & Compliance: Complete all Quality Control records in accordance with the Quality System.
- Workplace Safety & Waste Disposal: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper disposal of sample waste (e.g., soil jars, water bottles, metals waste, solvent waste).
About You
A successful candidate will have:
- Science qualification and background (Cert IV or Diploma)
- Passion for Science
- Fun and positive attitude
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work in a team environment and also individually motivated
- Can meet tight deadlines & work under pressure
