About the role
Avalon Airport Australia is seeking an experienced Freight Handler to join our dynamic team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for loading and unloading a variety of cargo from planes, manoeuvring freight using various types of vehicles and processing all freight operational tasks. We are currently carrying out 50 to 80 freight movement a year with aircrafts like 747-800 / 777 / Antonov and Defence, with the focus of growing our freight handling capacity in the short to mid-term. In addition to your core responsibilities, you will also provide support to the facilities team in maintaining the grounds across our premier airport facility located in Avalon, VIC.

What you'll be doing

Sorting of incoming and outgoing cargo

Loading and unloading of cargo

Safe handling and transportation of goods

Frequent lifting from 15 - 25 kilograms.

Conducting inspections of cargo for security and safety compliance

Collaboration with team members to ensure efficient cargo operations

Support the maintenance of the Airport and property grounds to an impeccable standard.

What You Will Bring:

Proven Expertise: With your experience in freight handling, you’ll hit the ground running.

In-Depth Knowledge: Your strong understanding of cargo activities, compliance requirements, equipment, and documentation will be invaluable.

Availability and Physical Prowess: Ability to work irregular days/hours, including weekends and public holidays, capable of lifting up to 15 - 25 kilograms in a safe manner and able to work outside in all types of weather.

Attention to Detail: Ability to follow strict operating procedures and requirements.

Team Player: Excellent communication and teamwork skills make you a perfect fit.

Licensed and Ready: Forklift licence preferred but not essential, current driver’s license and the ability to operate machinery and equipment are essential.
