Are you hands-on, safety-focused, and looking for a role that’s more than just moving standard pallet freight?

At Norman Carriers, we specialise in Custom Freight Solutions, handling out-of-gauge, high-value, and non-standard freight—from flat racks and open tops to low loaders and drop decks. We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Custom Freight Handler to join our Yard Operations team under the super awning at our busy depot.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Manual handling, loading, unloading, packing, and unpacking of unique and unconventional freight.

Operating and switching between various lifting and handling equipment.

Ensuring load restraint compliance in accordance with the Load Restraint Guide 2018.

Working outdoors with flat racks, open top containers, tautliners, and more.

Performing general warehouse tasks, including repacking, relocating freight, stocktakes, and maintaining yard cleanliness.

Using scanners, tablets, and warehouse apps to complete work accurately and efficiently.

Communicating clearly with warehouse and transport teams to ensure safe and smooth operations.

What You Bring:

Current LF Forklift Licence (mandatory).

Experience using various forklifts with different attachments; Reach Stacker and Dogman licences are highly regarded.

Solid understanding of load restraint and manual handling principles.

Good physical condition; able to lift heavy freight and perform physical work outdoors.

Basic computer skills and the ability to use warehouse tech (apps, scanners, etc.).

A practical mindset – ‘chippy skills’ or trade experience are a bonus.

Safety-first attitude and the ability to work well both independently and in a team.
