About the role
As the Intelligence Officer you will be responsible for assisting with and undertake data analysis that identifies emerging trends or threats pertaining to the identification of National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) safety and productivity objectives
Reporting to the Team Leader Intelligence, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of analysis, intelligence and risk functions at the NHVR across a growing footprint of NHVR jurisdictions to ensure a nationally consistent, effective and coordinated regulatory response that ensures a safe and compliant heavy vehicle industry.
Key responsibilities of this role are: (but not limited to)
- Implement reliable prioritisation frameworks for strategic information so it can be effectively used in the operational environment.
- undertake evidence-based research and analysis, review alternatives in relation to policy deliverables designed to contribute and enhance the NHVR’s intelligence-led risk-based approach.
- Assist with the determination of the effectiveness and efficiency of program interventions in changing non-compliant behaviour and report as required.
- Report on the effectiveness of risk profiles and the corresponding tactics and provide continuous information other internal stakeholders to assist with continuous improvement.
- Cleanse information from different data sources so it is operationally or strategically functional.
- Write and review reports, intelligence profiles and briefings in accordance with NHVR standards.
- Utilise PowerBI reports, Microsoft Office programs, Analysis Notebook and QGIS projects to undertake analysis as required.

About You
To be successful in this role you will possess
- Sound skills in the application of relevant modern Intelligence methodologies regarding the collection, collation and management of information.
- Experience in the use of intelligence tools including Microsoft office, Analyst Notebook, iBase and Power Bi.
- Ability to successfully apply risk assessment and problem-solving skills to complex problems, including the interpretation and evaluation of a diverse range of data and information.
- Experience in the intelligence field, coupled with education and/or training in the intelligence profession would be highly advantageous
- Experience in the use and application of relational databases and intelligence analysis tools for visual, temporal and spatial analysis would be highly advantageous
