Brisbane General & Obesity Surgery is a dynamic surgical practice with locations in Redcliffe and Kangaroo Point, Brisbane. We deliver exceptional healthcare to our surgical patients through a personalized approach, emphasizing assessment, education, collaboration, and support. Every patient’s care is tailored to their unique needs.

Our clinic operates with a contemporary and progressive style, offering a welcoming, informal, and fun atmosphere to ensure patients have a positive experience. We are a predominantly paperless practice, utilizing cloud-based software, electronic forms, and Apple Mac computers for a smooth and efficient workflow.

Position Details

• Part-time position: 4 days per week.

• Hours: 32 hours per week

Qualifications & Experience

• Registered or Enrolled Nurse

• Interest in bariatric and general surgery

• Passion for healthy lifestyle, wellness and fitness.

• Experience in taking a history, patient assessment and educating patients in a clinic setting

• Passion for healthy lifestyle promotion, coaching behavioural change, chronic disease management, and motivating patients

• Strong organizational skills and ability to optimize task workflows

• Ability to work independently with initiative

• Strong team player with awareness of role and impact on other activity in the practice

• Ability to manage stress and workload effectively

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct health assessments with a holistic focus on mental, physical, and social health

• Educate patients on obesity, surgical procedures, perioperative care, and recovery

• Assist in implementing a pre-operative surgical safety program to enhance outcomes

• Support and coach patients through their post-operative recovery and weight-loss journey including optimising their lifestyle, behaviours and mindset

• Provide wound care and post-surgery guidance as needed

• Educate other healthcare professionals on obesity management and our clinic’s approach

• Create engaging educational content for social media platforms

• Maintain and monitor databases on patient and surgical outcomes

• Participate in clinical research, audits, and presentations at national and international conferences
