The Intravital Microscopy and Gene Expression (IMAGE) lab uses cutting-edge intravital microscopy and genomic analysis to study the role of immune system in engineered animal models and patients. We are particularly interested in developing ways to improve vaccine-induced immunity, diagnose and treat autoimmune and allergic diseases and develop new cancer immunotherapies. The lab is part of the Precision Immunology Program at the Garvan Institute which aims to develop more precise, targeted immune-based therapies to treat disease.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Research Assistant, Level 1 to 8 is accountable for conducting experiments within their Research Platform.
Salary: Up to $105,400 + 14% superannuation + salary packaging (depending on experience)
Employment Type: 3-year fixed-term contract

WHAT YOU WILL DO
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
General duties such as
Store duties, wash-up and cleaning of shared rooms
Stock control: monitoring, preparing and ordering consumables
Tissue culture, genotyping, maintenance and monitoring of mouse colonies and small animal experiments
Perform their own experiments
Assist other laboratory members with experiments
Regularly attend lab, Program and institute seminars and meetings
Record keeping and maintenance of up-to-date laboratory methods, protocols
ABOUT YOU
The key skills and experience include:
Bachelor of Science (preferably with Honours);
Research Assistants within Garvan are expected to possess the following attributes:
