We are currently assisting our client in their search for skilled and driven individuals for the position of Cost Planner/Estimator/Quantity Surveyor, with opportunities available for all levels of experience.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects across sectors such as mining, engineering, transport infrastructure, and renewables, with the chance to grow professionally under the guidance of senior industry experts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed measurements (MTO), bills of quantities, cost plans, and cost estimates.
- Utilize estimating software (such as CostX, Expert Estimator, Candy, or similar) to provide accurate take-offs, in line with industry standards like ANZSMM, AS1181, and the DTMR Estimating Manual.
- Extract quantities from BIM/Digital Engineering models, when applicable.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, reports, and analysis for project stakeholders.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality work with minimal revisions, ready for client presentations.
- Work independently and collaborate effectively with team members to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Quantity Surveyor: A Bachelor’s degree in Urban Development (QS), Construction Management, or a related discipline, with at least 3 years of industry experience in a PQS environment.
- Senior Quantity Surveyor: A relevant Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, ideally in a PQS setting.
- Proven expertise in cost planning, estimating, and measurement.
- Proficiency in estimating software, such as Expert Estimator, Candy, CATS, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, quality assurance, and work health and safety procedures.
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A methodical approach to preparing material take-offs and cost estimates.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a focus on adding value to each project.
Additional Expectations:
- Present high-quality work that requires minimal intervention from senior staff.
- Focus on delivering quality work for existing clients, with limited responsibility for business development.
- Able to work independently while receiving appropriate support and guidance from management.
Industry Memberships (Desirable):
- Membership in a professional body like AIQS or equivalent is highly regarded.
