A bit about the role

We are seeking a Customer Data and Acquisition Officer to support the maintenance of the Name and Address Register (NAR) and assist with rates and property records. This role involves providing expert advice to customers on Council rates and revenue guidelines, ensuring accurate data management, and delivering exceptional customer service.

The position offers a 40-hour work week, including a monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO), with flexible work arrangements to promote a healthy work-life balance.

What you’ll deliver

  • Assist with maintenance of the Name and Address Register (NAR) within Council, including the linking/delinking/merging of names and/or addresses, resolving any issues which may arise.
  • Create and provide ad-hoc Name and Address data reports for other areas within Council upon request.
  • Process Notices of Acquisitions and follow up any balances remaining on accounts after property transfer has been completed.
  • Create, maintain and update rate and property records as required and provide a high level of assistance to ratepayers.
  • Respond to enquiries relating to rates and related property matters within the prescribed Service Level Agreements timeframes.
  • Assist with the daily banking processes and procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance the Voter’s roll and electoral information in accordance with legislation.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Council’s rating database.

What you’ll bring

  • A relevant qualification in a related field such as business, property or accounting with relevant experience; or extensive relevant experience.
  • Local Government customer service, property, valuations, rates and revenue (including special rates & fire levy) administration experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the Local Government Act 1989, Local Government Act 2020 and Valuation of Land Act 1960, or any subsequent iteration of these Acts and any other associated legislation relative to the function of the revenue and rating team.
  • Sound understanding in the use of computerised systems to support the rates revenue functions.
  • Communicate with clarity and influence, demonstrating strong written and verbal skills to engage, negotiate, and build productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including ratepayers, internal teams, contractors, managers and government agencies at all levels.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
  • A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
