An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Senior Payroll Officer to join their professional and dedicated team. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will ensure the accuracy and compliance of all payroll processes. Your expertise in compliance and remuneration will be essential in managing the complexities of payroll within our fast-paced and evolving business environment. Your responsibilities will include:
Process accurate and timely payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and employment contracts
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of payroll compliance requirements and remuneration structures within the higher education sector
Stay up-to-date with the latest tax laws and maintain compliance with local and state regulations
Handle employee inquiries related to payroll issues or discrepancies promptly and professionally
Prepare detailed reports for management regarding payroll activities, trends, and forecasts
Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures and records to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations
Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure benefits, bonuses, and other forms of compensation are accurately reflected in the payroll system
Implement and maintain payroll best practices to improve efficiency and reliability of payroll operations
To be considered for this exceptional role, you will need at least 5-6 years of proven experience in payroll operations within a high-achieving organisation. You must possess an in-depth understanding of payroll tax and compliance regulations, strong Excel skills, and outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
