The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) is looking for a senior information access and privacy specialist and experienced people leader to take on the role of Manager Information Access on an ongoing basis.
The role is the department's most senior information access and privacy specialist and leads and manages a team of 8 to deliver the strategic management of DEECA's information access and privacy activities.
The successful applicant will manage access to information held by DEECA in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and in response to Parliamentary Orders for the production of documents, together with the management of privacy complaints to the department.
The ideal candidate is a senior information access and privacy specialist with strong people and stakeholder management skills together with a passion for continuous improvement. An ideal candidate will:
- bring subject matter expertise with the ability to provide authoritative advice in highly complex and/or sensitive matters to senior stakeholders.
- lead and support best practice for DEECA in relation to the management of information access requests and privacy complaints, including by supporting organisational capability through education and awareness programs.
- foster a positive team environment supporting growth, good decision making and continuous improvement.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience working in a similar role focusing on privacy and information access legislation and compliance requirements.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
