Electorate Officer Full time/Part time

Initial 6-month contract with a possibility of extension

Applications are invited for the above position at the Electorate Office of Julie Freeman MLC, Member-elect for Western Australia, based in Karratha. In this role, the successful applicant will be required to respond to constituent enquiries, liaise with Government departments and other organisations and prepare and coordinate correspondence, media releases, publications, advertisements and social media content.

The applicant should be a highly motivated professional with excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in journalism, media, public relations, or marketing would be highly regarded.

Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • Strong office administration and IT skills (including social media).
  • Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and schedule work to ensure the completion of tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills, particularly in dealing with complex and difficult situations and matter
  • Highly developed research and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise initiative and also work as part of a team

Desirable

  • Ability to understand the impact and implications of issues and problems which arise in the constituency or parliamentary processes and able to consider the feelings and needs of all parties involved.
  • Knowledge of Government and Parliamentary procedures.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications

The position is offered under the Electorate and Research Employees (CSA) General Agreement 2024. A probationary period of three months will apply.
