Electrical Estimator - Position Description

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Reports To: Operations Manager

Primary Purpose/Role Summary: As an Electrical Estimator at DGE Electrical Services, you will play a crucial role in reviewing and preparing electrical tenders for projects across Australia and New Zealand. Based in our Burleigh Heads Head Office, you will work closely with the Senior Estimator and a team of experienced Electrical Estimators. Responsibility Areas:

Tender Preparation: Collaborate within a dedicated and dynamic team to prepare, review, and present electrical tenders to in-house teams and clients.

Cost Estimation: Complete take-offs and work with internal quantity surveyors, leveraging your hands-on electrical experience to develop job cost estimates for all pre- and post-tender activities within agreed-upon time frames.

Supplier Coordination: Liaise with suppliers and contractors to compile accurate costs, and participate in tender meetings, progress meetings, and supplier/internal processes as required.

Budget Management: Update budgets and schedules according to variations where appropriate, and work alongside the project team to estimate variations and financially control projects.

Safety Standards: Maintain high safety standards to ensure the safety of employees and clients, and accurately record timesheets and manage time efficiently.

Issue Resolution: Communicate issues, risks, and workflow conflicts to your manager, proposing viable solutions based on practical knowledge.

Project Review: Conduct reviews of project drawings, documentation, specifications, addenda, and relevant project information to enhance overall project understanding.

Peer Review: Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments of tenders prepared by other estimators to ensure accuracy, compliance with requirements, and overall quality. Provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement, and collaborate with team members to enhance the tendering process and outcomes.

Data Entry: Evaluate project take-offs, collate and enter data into DGE pricing sheets and simPRO, and perform measurements for mains, conduits, cable trays, and trenching on Groundplan.

Documentation: Draft and refine Tender Letters with precision, complete DGE Tender Cost Sheets accurately, and update the Project Board and Xero Projects daily.

Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to DGE standards and client satisfaction, demonstrating strong time management skills and effective communication with clients.

QA Process: Follow the DGE QA process for closing projects, attend site visits, and complete additional tasks such as Scope of Works, Breakdowns, Value Management, and Requests for Information.

Training: Participate in training sessions to develop skills and knowledge, review the running sheet daily to ensure accurate capture of all billable hours, and submit leave requests promptly.

Compliance: Strictly adhere to all relevant Australian Standards and Codes of Practice (AS3000 & AS3008) to ensure compliance and quality in all electrical estimating processes.

Performance Monitoring: Monitor and meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and participate in performance guidance and monitoring to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with company goals.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in electrical estimating, within the electrical industry

Over 5 years of on-site experience as an electrician, applying practical site and project knowledge to deliver accurate and buildable estimates

Relevant industry qualifications and licenses

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in MS Excel and industry specific estimation software such as; GroundPlan & Simpo
