Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and serve healthy, child-friendly meals and snacks that meet dietary and allergy requirements.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen in line with food safety and hygiene standards.
Manage food ordering, stock rotation, and kitchen inventory within budget guidelines.
Develop and update menus in consultation with centre management and in accordance with nutrition guidelines.
Collaborate with educators and families to support children’s individual dietary needs.
Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and presented in compliance with relevant regulations and centre policies.
Complete required kitchen documentation, including temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
Participate in centre events and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture.
Essential Requirements:
Previous experience as a cook or chef, preferably in an early childhood, school, or similar setting.
Knowledge of nutrition and food safety standards for young children.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Valid Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
Full working rights in Australia.
Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable:
Experience working in a childcare or educational environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Passion for supporting children’s health and wellbeing.
