Accounts Officer - 12 Month Parental Leave Cover

The Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporate (MAP Co) is the State Government agency responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Melbourne Arts Precinct (MAPT) project as well as the operations, programming, promotion and maintenance of Fed Square. MAP Co is overseeing the delivery of the $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project that includes, The Fox: NGV Contemporary, a new gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design; Laak Boorndap, the 18,000 square metre public open space in the heart of the precinct; as well as significant upgrades to Arts Centre Melbourne and its historic State Theatre.

It also takes on the management and operations of Fed Square and is responsible for connecting a single continuous art, civic, and cultural precinct stretching from Fed Square through Southbank. Once the transformation is complete, MAP Co will also manage and activate Laak Boorndap, the urban garden that will connect the Melbourne Arts Precinct in a seamless and immersive cultural experience.

Fed Square is the gateway to the art precinct - and as Melbourne's public square it is the civic, cultural and community heart of the city. It home to three of Victoria's major cultural institutions: ACMI - Australia's Museum of Screen Culture, the Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT) and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia along with an array of restaurants and cafes. Located opposite the iconic Flinders St Station, it is Melbourne's premier meeting place, tourist destination and event venue for thousands of free events every year.

About the Role

The Accounts Officer will manage the day-to-day accounts activities, and supports the finance team in financial management and business operations.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Accounts Payable. Prepare and process purchase orders and supplier invoices, create weekly supplier payment run, and reconcile supplier statements. Manage the reconciliation and processing of petty cash reimbursements to staff and corporate credit cards. Provide assistance to staff on purchasing processes such as purchase order entry and receipting. Update and maintain the vendor master file.
  • Accounts Receivable. Process sundry debtor and tenancy on-charge invoices. Process credit card payments from customers including the issuance of receipts. Manage collection of outstanding debts with internal stakeholders. Prepare and review monthly debtor report.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and process monthly bank reconciliations, assigned month-end journal entries, monthly general ledger and subsidiary ledger reconciliations. Assist in the preparation of Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Business Activity Statement (BAS) returns, external and internal audits, and continued enhancement of finance systems and tools.
  • Administrative Support / Business Operations: Assists the finance team with general administrative duties aProviding training and support for system processes and company procedures as well as proactively maintaining knowledge of MAP Co's policies and procedures.

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification would be well regarded
  • Demonstrates a high level of numeracy skills and has a high attention to detail
  • Experience working with financial software packages including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations)
  • Experience in tax compliance
  • Proficient in the use of MS office tools and productivity apps
