About the role
This is a part-time role as a Male Aboriginal Mentor (First Nations Candidates only) at ID. Know Yourself, an organisation focused on providing mentoring to Aboriginal young people living in out-of-home care. As the Aboriginal Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal young people to break the cycle.

What you'll be doing

Providing one-on-one and group mentoring to Aboriginal young boys aged 12 -18 years

Community engagement and program promotion, actively seeking new referrals of young people into the program with the support of the Program Manager & Referral Officer

Group Facilitator

Upholding Child Safety Standards

Recording confidential case notes

Liaising with caseworkers and carers

What we're looking for

Demonstrated experience in a similar mentoring or community engagement role (min 2 years)

Deep understanding of the challenges faced by the Aboriginal community and a commitment to supporting positive change

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and build trust

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, community development or a related field

Current driver's license

Identify as an Aboriginal man
