Our client holds a dominant market position on Australia's west coast, and is now expanding into the east coast C&I gas market following a period of exceptional performance. They are also exploring opportunities for growth in power and renewable energy markets.
About the Position
As Originator / Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing commercial east coast gas transactions, securing competitive supply and infrastructure services, and growing the company’s C&I retail and wholesale customer base.
Key responsibilities include:
- Wholesale Procurement - Secure competitive gas supply agreements, including physical gas, transportation, and storage services. Build a reliable and flexible wholesale portfolio that supports business growth and risk management.
- Customer Origination & Growth - Identify and close new retail and wholesale customer opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with large industrial users, commercial buyers, and aggregators.
- Contract Development & Negotiation - Lead the end-to-end negotiation and documentation of gas sales and purchase agreements, transport and storage contracts, and other relevant commercial arrangements.
- Market & Deal Analysis - Perform commercial analysis of gas supply, demand, and pricing trends. Evaluate individual deals, customer margin potential, and portfolio impacts. Collaborate with analysts and internal stakeholders to inform decisions.
- Strategic Business Development - Contribute to company strategy on product offerings, market positioning, and new growth opportunities. Leverage your insights to help shape the business model and expand our competitive advantage.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Law, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in gas origination, trading, or commercial management in the Australian East Coast market.
- Industry Network of wholesale suppliers, infrastructure providers, and retail/industrial customers.
- Negotiation Experience with gas supply, transport, and storage agreements.
- Natural ability to develop relationships and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
- Commercial and analytical acumen, with the ability to assess value, risk, and margin across complex deals.
