St John of God Bunbury Hospital is a modern facility serving the regional communities of WA's south west coastal towns, including the regional city of Bunbury, and its major centres comprising of Collie, Busselton and Margaret River. It is co-located on the South West Health Campus with the public hospital.
Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital
We are currently seeking a Clinical Nurse - Breast Care to join our dedicated and supportive team in the Oncology Department at SJG Bunbury. The Clinical Nurse - McGrath Breast Care role has been created to allow women diagnosed with breast cancer to access nurses with specialist breast care skills and training.
The Clinical Nurse - Breast Care will apply advanced knowledge of the health needs, preferences and circumstances of women with breast cancer to optimise the individual's health and wellbeing at various phases across the continuum of care, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, follow-up and palliative care. Advanced knowledge and skills in supportive care, including providing specialized and tailored information and education, psychological support, and clinical care will be utilised.
As a Clinical Nurse - Breast Care, you will adapt practice according to the specific and changing needs of individual women, taking into account their multiple health needs, concerns and preferences for care, facilitating continuity of care between different phases of the cancer journey, care settings, care plans and care providers.
This fixed term, parental leave cover role is offered on a 12-month part time basis, working 45.6 hours per fortnight.
The Position:
- Provide specialised breast care, information, education and support to clients relating to breast cancer in accordance with evidence based clinical practice guidelines.
- Provide expert clinical advice and clinical leadership on evidence based breast care services to nursing staff, allied health and other members of the multidisciplinary team or to health care providers a woman with breast cancer may come into contact with.
- Communicate appropriate information to senior staff regarding patient and service issues.
- Ensure documentation reflects appropriate standards and meets legal requirements.
- Ensure relationships with all customers are conducive to a harmonious working environment, and work to resolve conflicts as they arise.
- Actively participate in ongoing learning to continually improve skills and knowledge in area of practice.
You will hold current registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years' post registration experience in either surgical or medical oncology. In addition, you will hold a relevant post graduate qualification in breast care nursing or will be working towards this and have relevant experience in advanced practice with respect to management of women with breast cancer (and/or oncology nursing experience).
The successful incumbent will be a highly skilled and motivated practitioner who will utilise expert skills, knowledge and experience to work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team according to the complexity of care required and the individual need of the patients in their care. Workload will be mainly self-generated through extensive interdisciplinary collaboration across primary, secondary and tertiary health. You will be able to demonstrate your commitment to quality patient care and satisfaction, along with well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.

- Salary: $103,883 to $110,954 per annum (pro-rata), plus 11.5% superannuation
- 12-month part-time position, working 22.8 hours a week.
