Play a lead role in providing specialised holistic cancer care coordination to patients and their families throughout Central Australia.

The Department of Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.

Located in Alice Springs, the McGrath Sponsored Cancer Care Nurse (MSCCN) provides specialised holistic cancer care throughout the Central Australia region by optimising coordination of the cancer service delivery and supporting patients from diagnosis through to survivorship and palliative care.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team (MDT) you will provide specialist clinical care, advice, and education to a client group with diverse and/or complex care requirements, develop individual treatment plans and support the delivery of excellence in nursing/midwifery care by modelling advanced knowledge, skills, and behaviours. Acting as the patient advocate you will apply your advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience to ensure they receive high-quality cancer care services.

To be successful, you will be an accomplished Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery supporting well-developed clinical decision making. Demonstrated proficiency in the understanding, application, analysis and interpretation of a professional body of knowledge and experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policies. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and promote cooperation is essential.

In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work effectively in a culturally safe manner.

About 450kms down the road is Uluru, a large sandstone rock formation that is a spectacular sight any time of the year
