About our team
The Senior Leaders - School Performance team provides guidance and support to schools within their assigned clusters. They liaise with BCEO functional managers and specialist staff to ensure timely advice and services, maintaining professional relationships with principals and acting as a mediating layer between schools and the system. Key areas of support include Catholic Identity, Educative Leadership, Professional Learning and Teaching Practice, School Management, and Internal and External Compliance and Reporting.

Summary

Contribute to the achievement of the organisation's long-term vision by taking charge of key Brisbane Catholic Education-wide initiatives and driving transformation as a Senior Leader - School Performance. This role is crucial in enhancing the performance BCE schools, focusing on Catholic identity, professional learning, teaching practice, school management, and compliance. The Senior Leader collaborates to provide timely support, advice, and services to schools.

  • Location: BCE Office - Woolloongabba
  • Work hours: Full-time | Flexible working arrangements available
  • Salary: $245,600 - $272,900 total package including super and access to a motor vehicle
  • Status: Permanent (continuing)

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Provide leadership by driving BCE's strategic priorities while ensuring consistency of policy, procedures, and messaging across a cluster of assigned schools.
  • Provide leadership and support to principals, with a focus on effective leadership and building high-performing cultures through the development of principals' and school teams' capability in effective teaching practices.
  • Effectively manage staff mobility, succession planning and resources to meet school needs.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and promote high-quality learning and teaching to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Lead schools to engage with and embed a contemporary Catholic and/or Ecumenical perspective while supporting principals in deepening their spiritual formation and that of their staff.
  • Assist principals in fulfilling their management and reporting responsibilities while providing direction and guidance on school-based issues, critical incidents, financial management, external reporting and audits, NSSAB accreditation, complaints, and complex staff and student matters.
  • Creating, executing, and adapting a plan responding to BCE's evolving needs and contributing to the development of school strategies, Master Plans, major planning and development projects.
  • Using inputs from emerging learning technologies, educational research and global trends to co-design new directions for schooling.
  • Report on school performance and issues, and on BCE's direction and approach to school centric service delivery to contribute to annual plans.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Proven experience as a school principal or in a similar leadership role within an educational setting including effective educational and administrative leadership.
  • Master's qualifications in educational leadership, theology, and/or a business post-graduate degree
  • Proven people leadership skills to build culture, capability and capacity within multiple school leadership teams.
  • Proven effectiveness in managing teams to drive system performance and strategic directions and priorities.
  • Ability to translate strategic plans into operational plans to lead and mobilise principals.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary ‘expected and effective' evidence-based practices in learning and teaching and ability to provide leadership based on contemporary practices and principles.
  • Sound knowledge of the policy landscape, industry standards, compliance requirements and legislation relevant to the non-government education sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, complaint resolution and exercise discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to understand data, identify and evaluate performance and drive corrective action

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Full registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
