About the position
Council’s Safer Communities Department is looking for a Coordinator Safer Communities who will be responsible for delivering a customer focused and contemporary Safer Communities service ensuing quality outcomes for Council and the community.
The main responsibilities will include:
- Supervise the operational functions of the Unit ensuring adherence to legislation and Council’s policies and procedures in the areas of:
- Animal Management
- Local Law Enforcement
- Car Parking Services and Enforcement
- Litter and CCTV and mobile camera fleet
- Foreshore Enforcement
- Rapid Response
- Safer Cities CCTV Program
- Coordinate and provide leadership to the Unit and manage relevant staff issues in accordance with Council’s procedures and requirements fostering a cohesive team approach to all projects and activities
- Coordinate key Safer Communities projects and initiatives including:
- Community Local Law reviews
- Domestic Animal Management Plan reviews
- Implementation of the Safer Communities Strategy
- Animal Pound reviews
About you
- Demonstrated expertise in creating and executing effective, innovative and operational strategies to tackle specific community safety challenges within the municipality.
- A dynamic leader with proven experience in leading teams within diverse environments. You have a strong track record of fostering inclusive team cultures, driving performance and achieving organisational goals.
- Experience in project planning, compliance management, financial oversight, and evaluation, coupled with strong analytical skills to interpret data and implement action plans based on findings to improve community safety and compliance.

This position is a Band 7 currently remunerated at $109,416.26 - $121,988.12 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
