About our team
The Customer Solutions team leads BCE's IT project portfolio, acting as the bridge between IT capabilities and customer needs. They ensure that technology solutions enhance customer interactions, improve experiences, and support BCE's growth. The team fosters a culture of continuous innovation through collaboration and transparency, delivering valuable business outcomes across the digital ecosystem.
The Business Engagement team within our Information & Technology function is dedicated to driving transformative initiatives that empower progress and adoption across our organisation. Partnering with our BCE and Cairns' Schools and head offices, our team harnesses cutting-edge technologies, AI, and best practices to optimise processes, enhance & support user experiences, and ensure the ongoing improvement, integrity, and functionality of our systems. Our mission is to be a trusted partner in driving the success, efficiencies, and growth of our organisation and technology landscape. Our dedicated team of highly skilled System Administrators, Functional Consultants, Business Analysts, & Support Staff, comprised of Business Technology Services, School Technology Services, and Portfolio & Digital Experience manages a wide range of critical systems, including Finance, Payroll, LMS, HRIS, Risk & Compliance, Corporate Intranet, and School Administration & Information systems.
Summary
Showcase your ability as the Senior IT Engagement Officer, driving organisational change through process improvements. In this role, you will support the day-to-day operation of our payroll solution - aPay (Ascender). You will be involved in user maintenance, issue investigation and resolution, enhancements, releases, and working with business stakeholders and partners. This team also supports integrations with our HR solutions - SAP SuccessFactors, Strato, and WorkforceX.

- Salary: $133,554.00 - $148,386.00 + super
- Status: Full Time Continuing
About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Provide services for aPay (Ascender) modules, including customisations, WSS and Extend, Integration, and Reporting.
- Manage user requests through the Service Desk, including effective triaging and escalation where appropriate.
- Monitor system performance and data integrity, providing recommendations and direct actions to sustain or enhance capability.
- Partner with the business and SMEs to drive and deliver business outcomes and initiatives.
- Act as the interface between business users and external system support teams, guiding the business on system updates and their impact on business processes.
- Manage Payroll system upgrades, monitoring background jobs and tasks, performance tuning, capacity planning, data integration, testing, and patch release management.
- Engage with vendors as required for support and enhancements.
- Develop and implement change management strategies and implementation plans aligned to new initiatives or existing information systems and services.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Essential knowledge of aPay (Ascender) solutions and business processes, or multiple Payroll solutions.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge with Payroll and best practices.
- Intermediate to advanced expertise in writing SQL queries.
- Experience in developing reports using specific reporting software (knowledge of SQL is essential).
- Skills in business analysis, product management, release management, change management, and support management.
- Relevant qualifcation and experience in education, business, information technology, information systems or another relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting end users through transformation of process, practice and technology
- Understanding of Project and Change Management practices as they relate to information systems support, optimisation and implementation
