Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service (WWHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that prides itself on delivering a range of health services to the community in a style and manner that makes clients feel welcome and comfortable.

WWHS operates a range of clinics and provides a range of primary health care and other services which include our Main Clinic (acute and general care), Gudbinji Chronic Disease Clinic, Binjari Health Centre, Women and Children’s Health, Men’s Health and a Dental Clinic.

We also deliver Community Service programs which aim to achieve better outcomes in early intervention, treatment, and management through an integrated approach in a primary health care setting like our Alcohol and Other Drugs Program, Social and Emotional Wellbeing program, Strongbala Men’s Justice, Katherine Individual Support Program, our Strong Indigenous Families program and Connecting Pathways Program. As well as providing Clinical and Community Services WWHS also provides Professional Development and Training, as well as Corporate Services being: Human Resources, Finance, Infrastructure, Work Health and Safety, Compliance and Administration Support.

WWHS is currently in process of establishing The Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) with in our Community Services Program offering. MBCP is a proactive program in the design and Implementation of a program that is aligned to the Northern Territory Minimal Standards for Declared Domestic Family Violence (DFV) programs while providing a culturally safe service.

The Men’s Behaviour Change Practice Lead will work closely with the MBC Coordinator program design and implementation role, to design and develop a key program that supports men who have committed DFV to understand the impact, address problematic alcohol and drug use along with the impacts of colonisation on Aboriginal people. This will involve the development and maintaining of collaborative working relationships with other DFV related services including Legal, Police, Corrections, Child Protection, Drug and Alcohol Services and Health Services. Developing a person centered, trauma informed, evidence based and strength-based program that ensures the cultural safety and self-determination of participants is upheld. The role will include negotiating and understanding all the complexities of working with such a wide range of stakeholders, understanding any pre-existing system currently in place, and ensuring the success of the program in the future.

Indigenous and/or Torres Strait Islander persons are encouraged to apply

Ideally, we are seeking candidates with the following

Diploma or Certificate IV (with extensive experience) in Community Development, Aboriginal Health Practitioner, Psychology and/or Public Health.

Demonstrated a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a primary health system or relevant social determinants programs.

Evidence of participatory and narrative approaches in health, research and organisational change.

An established track record of complex project management in community-controlled health settings and services and willingness to listen deeply and respond to community needs.

Demonstrated ability to lead organisational change through effective team leadership and management.

Proven ability to collect, analyse and report community-driven data.

Demonstrated ability or high-level understanding of Knowledge Translation processes and application of knowledge into practice.

Current National Police Records Check and Working with Children’s Clearance.

Current Northern Territory Driver’s License.
