THE OPPORTUNITY
Salary: $92,375 - $101,744 per annum pro rata + 11.5% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
Time Fraction: Full Time, 1.0 EFT.
Location: Chadstone campus - onsite parking and close proximity to public transport.
WWCC: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining and maintaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check.
Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Police Check.
Position Status: Ongoing contract of appointment with a 6-month qualifying period.
The Finance Department is currently seeking a dedicated and diligent Accountant to join the team. The accountant is a key member of the Finance Department and plays an important role in fulfilling the Institute’s financial reporting obligations. This includes supporting the preparation of the Institute’s Annual Financial Report and managing the month and year-end ledger closure process. You’ll contribute to accurate financial reporting, ensure compliance with relevant standards and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the month-end and year-end finalisation process by preparing reconciliations, posting journals and reconciling items.
- Lead the reconciliation process between Holmesglen’s Student Management System (Banner) and TechOne (GL).
- Prepare and manage monthly general ledger reconciliations, particularly student revenue reporting and analysis.
- Process complex accounting transactions in line with Australian Accounting Standards, including accruals, prepayments, income in advance and bad debt provisions.
- Assist with annual financial reporting, tax compliance (BAS, FBT) and provide financial advice and training to internal stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU
- A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in Business, Finance or Accounting is required (CA and/or CPA qualifications are highly desirable).
- A minimum three years’ experience as a financial accountant, handling reconciliations, journals and financial reporting for large organisations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Taxation requirements.
- Proficiency in using IT finance systems and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills for financial reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, providing professional financial advice and support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with TechOne, Banner Student Management System and knowledge of the Victorian TAFE sector (desirable).
