The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, where you will guide and support a small accounts team, fostering a positive and collaborative culture in line with our company values.
This full-time position reports to the General Manager and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a business that cares deeply about its people and community.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to work efficiently and diligently in a professional environment and will need a strong work ethic and the ability to multitask to meet strict deadlines.
· Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and resolution of discrepancies
· Process fortnightly payroll for approximately 50 staff
· Manage month-end close processes, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
· Prepare and submit timely, compliant, and accurate financial reports, statements, and tax returns (including Payroll Tax and BAS/IAS lodgements)
· Develop and monitor budgets, and conduct financial forecasting to support strategic planning and decision-making
· Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations
· Implement and maintain efficient workflows
· Supervise and mentor staff, and assist in performance management and training initiatives
· Collaborate with senior management to drive continuous improvement in finance
Qualifications & Experience
· Tertiary qualification in accounting (essential)
· Proven experience in end-to-end company account management, ideally in small to medium sized businesses
· Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software (QuickBooks preferred)
· Strong payroll experience
· Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team
· Ability to self-manage, multitask, and thrive under pressure
· Professional presentation and ability to communicate across diverse cultures
· Flexibility to work additional hours when required
· Current National Police Clearance
