FIXED TERM MATERNITY LEAVE COVER (June 2025 to April 2026)
The Shire of Exmouth is offering an exciting opportunity to an experienced Communications professional to work with the Shire to cover maternity leave for a period of 11 months. Reporting to the Executive Manager Organisational Development, this key role places you at the heart of the Shire’s communications efforts. You will be leading a small team that covers ICT and Information Management where your contributions will shape the organisation's voice, both internally and externally. The role is broad and engaging, and offers the opportunity to:
· Develop and coordinate strategic communications to support our goals.
· Pick up, lead and implement key projects due to be commenced in the next 6 months including website redevelopment/brand refresh, intranet development, and hardware refresh projects
· Manage media enquiries, prepare official responses.
· Partner with our key stakeholders, including Council, CEO and project teams.
· Craft executive level communications, including preparation of speeches, publications and strategic content.
· Influence communications processes, driving innovation and continuous improvement.

· Remuneration package includes, base salary of $84k to $88k + Location Allowance $1955 p/a + generous Superannuation co-contribution arrangements + Housing Allowance if resident in Exmouth - other limited housing options may be available and can be discussed at interview.
About You
We’re looking for someone that is a confident and strategic communicator with a background in public relations, community engagement or communications in a similar environment (government). You will have;
· Strong writing skills that can communicate complex information into clear, engaging content across a range of levels.
· Initiative and a growth mindset to embrace new challenges.
· Confidence to build relationships quickly and advise stakeholders at all levels.
