Want a job in sales?

Have a professional sales/corporate background?

Comfortable and confident interacting with people on the phone and in-person?

Hardworking, self-motivated, ambitious and driven to succeed?

Used to working in a fast-paced environment where you're accountable for hitting sales targets and KPIs?

Then a career in agency recruitment could be for you!

What’s great about being a Recruitment Consultant?

Everyday you have the potential to change someone’s life and transform a business. As a specialist advisor supporting both companies and individuals, you match job-seekers to new roles, introduce industry experts to new career opportunities and help solve your clients' staffing problems. Working in a recruitment agency is like running your own business - you decide which companies you want to win work from, you're responsible for building a pool of candidates that match the roles that you recruit for, and you're in control of your workload and accountable for your results.

If you’re hardworking, driven, persistent, and effective at delivering results, you’ll enjoy a successful career, have a massive impact on your industry and make a lot of money!

What's involved with being a Recruitment Consultant?

Depending on your role, you'll have a number of key responsibilities, including:

Sourcing, screening and selecting candidates for your clients' open job vacancies (and the roles that you specialise in and will get in the future)

Generating candidates and then introducing them to businesses (ie making sales calls) to create opportunities and make placements

Managing all aspects of the recruitment process and supporting your clients with hiring and onboarding people

Managing key accounts, following up on your workers and placed candidates, helping to retain and grow that business

Winning new business by doing sales calls, attending sales meetings and networking online and in-person

Your day will be jam-packed full making calls, conducting and arranging interviews and going on client meetings so you'll need to be high-energy, organised, efficient, self-motivated and enjoy working at pace and under pressure.

What are some of the challenges I’ll face?

Being a Recruitment Consultant is incredibly rewarding, but you need to be prepared for some challenges:

There’s a lot to learn and it will take time to see results - expect a steep learning curve and at least a year to get your head around things - no quick wins or easy money here!

It's a sales job, so there's fee targets and activity KPIs which you'll be expected to hit in time and be consistent with achieving in the future - there's a lot of accountability and you need to be prepared to work hard and be consistent

All day long, you’re interacting with people – mostly on the phone but also in meetings and interviews - so you need lots of energy and enthusiasm, good interpersonal skills and excellent communication

Working with people can be challenging so you’ll need to be resilient, have a positive attitude and possess good problem-solving skills

And finally, there are lots of different aspects to the role so you’ll need good time management, the ability to work at pace, and be comfortable spinning lots of plates!

What kind of person makes a good recruiter?

There's not just one type of person that makes a good recruiter but ideally I'm looking for people from:

Professional/B2B sales backgrounds

Individuals that have done technical roles in industries like mining, engineering or construction

Individuals from Real Estate, Call Centres or Insurance are also of interest

You don't need a university degree but you do need to have commercial acumen, sales drive and excellent interpersonal skills.

EXPERIENCED RECRUITERS LOOKING FOR A NEW ROLE ARE MOST WELCOME TO APPLY!

What roles are available?

Accountancy & Finance recruitment

White-collar mining

Blue-collar mining trades

Engineering

IT recruitment

Nursing & healthcare recruitment

You must have valid work rights to be considered and be currently living in WA.

Sponsorship is only a possibility if you have at least 12 months' recruitment experience from overseas (UK, Europe, South Africa and USA is most commonly accepted by my clients) but please note that typically you will need to have valid work rights at this moment to be considered ie be on a working holiday visa.

They are full-time, permanent opportunities, based in and around the Perth CBD/metro area.

In these roles you'll earn a base salary and be entitled to commission/bonuses as you hit your targets and deliver results - which will grow over time as you get better at the job and build your candidate and client network.

I’m interested, so how do I get into recruitment?

If all of this sounds like a challenge that you’re up for, and you’re interested in beginning/continuing a career in recruitment, then we should talk!

My name is Michael Jones and I run the Developing Experts Academy which hires and trains entry-level recruiters for recruitment agencies across Perth. I've been in the industry for almost twenty years and I work with many of the recruitment agencies in Perth. As you can see from above, I have lots of opportunities that I can match you to, and, once placed into a role, you’ll receive additional specialised training from me to help you succeed and become a recruiting expert. (If you're an experienced recruiter looking for a new opportunity, feel free to reach out too - confidentiality guaranteed!)

Click ‘apply now’ or email your updated resume to [email protected].

Please provide a tailored cover letter explaining why you're interested in recruitment and why you think you'll be successful at it (it doesn't need to be too long or detailed!) and I look forward to speaking to you soon.
