SENIOR VETERINARY NURSE WANTED SYDNEY ANIMAL HOSPITALS - NEWTOWN

We are a friendly, fun and diverse team, and we are looking for a senior veterinary nurse to join our team.

We are a well-equipped and busy small animal practice that provides the community with high standard of veterinary and client care. We have access to in-house orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeons, advanced imaging as well as the usual in-house equipment.

About us:

The Hospital is located in Erskineville, close to public transport & Sydney CBD. We have a variety of medical, surgical and emergencies cases.

The hospital has up to date technology and well-trained staff.

We expect a high standard of care for all our patients and their owners.

The Hospital is open from 7:00am - 11:00pm Monday- Thursday, Friday 7:00am - 9:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 7:00am- 6:00pm.

No after hours.

About the position:

Full Time position – 40 hour week, 1:5 Saturdays with a rostered day off the following Monday to ensure two consecutive days off.

Variety of mixed surgical, medical & customer care shifts.

Shared public holidays – Around 2 per year 9am-6pm.

We are primarily a canine and feline hospital; we see some exotics.

A roster is posted one month in advance.

Desired Skills:

Must be able to work within a team and unassisted.

Exceptional animal handing skills in line with fear free guidelines.

Be able to mentor and support junior nursing team.

Sound knowledge with Digital Xray.

Experience with emergency cases.

Nurse consultations - Laser therapy & nutrition consultations.

Experienced with drawing blood & running in-house IDEXX diagnostics.

Experience with catheter placement.

Experience with anaesthesia & surgical cases.

Experienced with managing the surgery flow and patients - pre, during and post-surgery.

Experience with Dentistry.

Orthopaedic procedures (training will be provided as needed).

A successful applicant will have:

Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent.

4 years minimum experience working as a veterinary nurse.

Client communication experience is essential.

Knowledge of RxWorks and Smartflow is desirable.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
