Short Description
We're seeking an experienced Import Logistics Specialist to lead and optimise global freight operations across sea and air. This is a key role with high visibility across the business and an opportunity to make a significant impact on international logistics performance and cost efficiency.
The Role
As the Import Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the global freight strategy, managing key freight providers, and ensuring all import activities are financially and operationally sound. You’ll work cross-functionally with internal teams including Procurement, Sales, and Planning, providing insights and updates on freight market conditions, cost implications, and delivery timelines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategy development for sea and air freight, including service provider onboarding and performance management.
- Financial oversight of import activities and cost recovery.
- Implementation and monitoring of provider KPIs and Power BI dashboards.
- Data maintenance and voyage tracking in D365.
- Negotiation and approval of freight rates and invoices, ensuring compliance with GST and duty regulations.
- Booking and tracking express and air shipments.
- Cross-functional collaboration and maintaining SOPs and internal agreements.
You’ll also support internal compliance procedures, import permits, and deputise for team members when needed.
Key Skills To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience managing international freight operations (both air and sea).
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen related to freight cost and terms.
- Experience with D365 or a similar ERP system.
- Proficiency with Power BI and data reporting tools.
- A collaborative mindset with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong understanding of import regulations, permits, and compliance (GST, duties, broker registration).
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
