Join the James Cook University (JCU) Central Queensland Centre for Rural & Remote Health team in Emerald and make a meaningful difference in your community. We are seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive individual to join our team as a Part-Time Aboriginal Allied Health Assistant.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the delivery of high-quality allied health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in rural and remote areas. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting allied health professionals, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists, in providing culturally appropriate care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Facilitating communication between clients, their families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment.
- Supporting the implementation of treatment plans and participating in community outreach programs.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to the development of culturally relevant resources.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To excel in this role, you must possess a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and a genuine commitment to improving the health and well-being of these communities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a collaborative and empathetic approach, are essential.
As part of the JCU team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and gain invaluable knowledge and skills in the field of rural and remote health. This position offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to balance work and personal commitments.
ABOUT THE CENTRAL QUEENSLAND CENTRE FOR RURAL AND REMOTE HEALTH
The James Cook University Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health (CQCRRH) in Emerald is part of a national network of 16 University Departments of Rural Health, funded through the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program as a workforce initiative.
This newly established centre aims to enhance clinical placements by embedding students within practices, services, organizations, and communities, with a strong focus on engaging with Indigenous communities.
