Role purpose

You will deliver a service guided by the Hope and Healing Framework for Residential Care and Transition to Adulthood Framework to ensure a therapeutic home environment, where children and young people are actively engaged in activities and routines which support them to develop life skills including emotional regulation, problem solving and social competencies.

Working within CARE you will strive to enhance the lives of young people in our Residential Out of Home Care Program incorporating a therapeutic, trauma informed approach.

You will be employed as an essential part of a small multi-disciplinary team within a transitional house providing programs and support , while developing the capacity of residents for independent living .

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstration of best practice support of children and young people.
• Monitor the changing needs of children and young people and provide information and contribute to the adaptation of CQID services as required to meet these needs.
• Engage families where appropriate to ensure young people have the opportunity to reconnect, reunify and understand their family history.
• Undertake written and verbal communication including the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Be a role model and demonstrate positive attributes that allow young people to learn and feel safe which reduces their vulnerability, builds resilience and encourages aspirations for their future.
• Ensure the transitional house is clean and well maintained by undertaking general household tasks including shopping, cooking, and cleaning.
• Highly developed problem-solving skills.
• At all times work within CQID’s Workplace Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
• Participate and contribute to the organisation’s compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS)
• Certificate III or IV level qualification in relevant discipline
• Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage.
• Prepared to work in a 24/7 residential care rotating roster.
• An understanding of complex trauma and its effects on children and young people in Out of Home Care.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a busy environment and complete administrative tasks within designated timeframes with accuracy and high attention to detail.
• Proficient use of IT systems including Microsoft, Outlook, Excel, internet, email and client management systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.
