The Team Leader Home based Care will coordinate and supervise the following Department of Families, Fairness and Housing funded programs: Kinship Care; Foster Care; Kinship Reunification; First Supports; Therapeutic Residential Care Case Manager; and Carer Recruitment and Assessment. Day to day operational duties will include:
• Coordinating the day-to-day requirements of home based care programs, supervision of case workers and to ensure that a quality and timely service is provided to Aboriginal children and families within the program.
• Ensuring that service delivery is compliant with relevant standards and legislative requirements and culturally informed using the Best Interest Case Practice Model embedded with the principles of Therapeutic Case Management.
• Service and program delivery is via a care team approach to achieve positive outcomes.
In addition, with guidance and support, you will implement effective and thoughtful case management to ensure that Aboriginal children and young people, their families and their carer family receive a high quality, child safe service.
The role will also hold a small case load on occasion and facilitate a therapeutic approach to case management.

Key Selection Criteria:
• Demonstrable supervisory experience preferably in the children, youth and family sector.
• Provide appropriate levels of guidance and supervision to ensure the service operates effectively and that staff are motivated.
• Ability to promote and actively lead team development and change management processes.
• Communicate, consult, liaise, and negotiate with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal at all levels to achieve broad program objectives and goals.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective working relationships and foster positive team culture.
• Work independently under the direction from the Manager Out of Home Care Services, to plan activities and set priorities that achieve objectives and meet deadlines, often in a context of conflicting priorities.
• The ability to thrive in a busy work environment – being flexible in prioritising workloads to suit the needs of the Home Based Care program.
• Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people particularly those relevant to Family and Community service delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in working with Child Protection or Out of Home Care sector. Knowledge of Child Protection services and protocols and an excellent understanding of the principles and practices of case work and therapeutic approaches with case management.
• Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve service delivery.
Qualification/s:
Bachelor level degree in social work, psychology, or a related discipline with relevant experience.
Diploma in Community Services or similar field with substantial experience and leadership experience in out of home care sector and/or child protection.
Other Screening Requirements:
A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
