About the Position

We are looking to welcome a Team Leader to lead the provision of direct care and the creation of a warm, nurturing and culturally safe home environment for children and young people placed in the Aurukun Safehouse.

  • Monday to Friday position, with occasional out of hours and on-call support as required.
  • Government funded until 31 December 2026 with possible extension.
  • Level 5 under the SCHCADS Award. Salary range is $97,378 – $101,788 + Super.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team of support workers and work closely with the Program Coordinator to:

  • Manage the day to day running of the house.
  • Support direct care team members in providing quality trauma informed care.
  • Lead the team in the creation and fostering of a warm, structured, secure environment.
  • Lead the creation of a warm, nurturing and culturally safe home environment for children and young people.

About You

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline would be well regarded.
  • Hold or in the process of completing a Degree in Community Services or other relevant field.
  • Hope and Healing Foundations Framework certificate.
  • A good understanding of Aboriginal engagement.
  • Experience in managing disruptive behaviours and mentoring of employees through challenging situations to ensure children in the house are given the best level of care.

Other Requirements

  • Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
  • Willingness to undergo and pass a Suitability Check.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Legally able work in Australia (proof of eligibility will be requested).
  • Current Senior First Aid certificate or the ability to acquire one.
