About this role

As a Housing & Tenancy Officer at Churches of Christ, you’ll play a vital role in supporting individuals and families through safe, sustainable housing. Based in our Brisbane Kenmore team, this role supports tenants from all walks of life—delivering tenancy services with compassion, fairness and respect.

We currently have two opportunities:

  • Permanent Full-Time
  • 12-Month Parental Leave Contract

You’ll be part of a close-knit, values-driven team within a well-established, mission-based organisation that’s been serving communities for over 130 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a diverse housing portfolio including allocations, inspections, rent and arrears.
  • Supporting tenants through the entire housing journey—focusing on stability, empowerment and wellbeing.
  • Coordinating property maintenance and contractor liaison.
  • Handling complaints and feedback processes professionally and proactively.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant tenancy legislation and internal processes.
  • Recording and reporting on housing activity, tenancy trends and program needs.

What you can bring to the team

You’re empathetic, organised and resilient, with experience in tenancy, community services or property management. You’re passionate about housing justice and can balance the practical with the personal—supporting people while protecting property.

To be suitable for the position, ideally you have:

  • Certificate IV in Social Housing or a related community services qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • A current driver’s licence.
  • Experience in tenancy or housing management, ideally 3+ years.
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act (desirable).
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • A commitment to working in alignment with the mission and values of Churches of Christ.

Possess or willingness to acquire;

  • A current National Police Certificate
  • A current Working with Children (Blue Card)
