As part of the Finance team within the Corporate Services Department, the Accountant will report to the Senior Finance Manager and work closely in collaboration with other finance team members. The role is based out of our Mildura office and is a full-time role.
As the Accountant, you are responsible for overseeing key financial processes including end of month processing and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role supports internal and external audits, contributes to budgeting and financial reporting, and analyses financial performance to provide strategic insights.
You will drive process improvements, lead ad hoc and manage special projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position includes contributing to policy and procedure development to promote efficiency and ensuring financial integrity within the organisation.
This role plays a crucial role in supporting the finance team and leadership through accurate financial management and continuous process optimisation to meeting MDAS’s financial obligations and ensuring effective data management for program delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement.
This will include the recognition and reporting of revenue against key contract criteria and program data, which requires an advanced understanding of relevant revenue Accounting Standards. Your contributions will enhance financial systems, reporting, and analysis, and drive improvements in revenue maximisation from both contracts and Medicare sources.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and revenue recognition standards, financial analysis techniques, and budgeting processes.
• Proficiency in financial software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Well-developed analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills in accounting and financial management information systems.
• Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A relevant professional certification (e.g. CPA, CA) is desirable.
• Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar financial role, with experience in Medicare processes and systems an advantage.
• Experience in financial software packages such as Business Central (Microsoft Dynamics), MagiQ.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office suite.

A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
