About the role:

An opportunity exists for a part time (0.6FTE) pharmacist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team of pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners and doctors in providing health services to people in Police Custody. Working 22.8 hours a week, with the potential for additional hours, you will be responsible for day-to-day pharmacy operations. In addition, you will provide clinical support and advice to medical staff.

This position will involve regular weekday shifts.

Your duties will include:

  • Daily operational duties associated with procurement, dispensing, supply, and distribution of medicines.
  • Clinical review of medication charts
  • Organisation of pharmacotherapy dosing in custody
  • Providing support to the Pharmacy Manager
  • Inventory management and medicine delivery
  • Contribution to protocol and procedure development and reviews
  • Liaison with external stakeholders
  • Contributing to audit review processes to ensure safe, timely and effective use of medicines.

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • A high level of clinical competency
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to complex situations
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Open style of communication
  • The ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team on patient management
  • A demonstrated ability to learn and adapt

Further Information:

  • One (1) x part-time, (0.6FTE) ongoing position is available.
  • The salary plus superannuation will be pro rata.
  • This position is located at the Melbourne Custody Centre, 520 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne 3000.
  • This position requires shift work (day shifts only) as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).

  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
