Sunlover Reef Cruises travels daily from Cairns, to Fitzroy Island and Moore Reef on the beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

We offer a complete reef tourism experience, with an award winning team providing glass bottom and semi-submersible boat tours, guided snorkelling interpretive tours, introductory and certified diving, seawalker helmet diving and helicopter reef scenic flights.

We’re on the lookout for a reliable, motivated, and experienced deckhand to join our Marine Operations team. This is a full time position and the base salary will be in the range of $69,000 and $77,000 plus superannuation.

Key responsibilities:

Handling ropes and wires, and operating mooring equipment when berthing and unberthing

Standing lookout watches at sea and adjusting the vessels course as directed

Assisting with operations using on-board equipment and stowing and securing cargo

Patrols to ensure safety of the vessel, cargo and passengers

Performing routine maintenance and checks on deck equipment, cargo gear, rigging, and lifesaving and firefighting appliances

To be successful in this position the ideal candidate will have:-

Certificate III in Marine Operations

Minimum 1 year work experience

Experience in a similar role within the tourism industry

Excellent Communication Skills

A high level of grooming and presentation

The ability to adhere to company operating standards

You will be required to work over a 7 day roster including weekends and public holidays.
