This is an exciting new opportunity to join our Family and Domestic Violence team - it is a part-time role (0.6FTE or 45.6 hours per fortnight) working from our Roebourne office and is a maximum term contract for 2 years.

About the Job
The Family and Domestic Violence Advocate Program is a community-based initiative that aims to raise awareness of family violence in the Pilbara region. The Program focuses on case management, community engagement and capacity building strategies. This is a newly created role for our Roebourne office.

Position duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Team Leader, Family and Domestic Violence, you will:
• Assist with intake and assessment to ensure priority needs are met
• Promote safety through the development of a safety plan and provide information, education and resources to clients
• Work alongside solicitors, and other support workers, as well as independently, to implement and follow up on case plan actions
• Actively refer to internal and external support services, demonstrating a positive working relationship with agencies and government services
• Advocate for victims and their families to promote access to services
• Provision of court support including assisting with family violence restraining order applications and court dates
• Maintain accurate records of cases, client interactions and outcomes
• Provide administration support to Team Leader, assisting with internal and external reporting requirements
• Promote the services and resources available to clients through outreach efforts, workshops and public presentations
Essential Criteria
- Certificate IV (minimum) and/or experience in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work or other relevant field
- Knowledge of domestic and family violence issues affecting families including those from culturally and linguistically diverse and Indigenous backgrounds
- Proven ability to provide casework support
- An understanding of the complexities of Family and Domestic Violence
- Ensure the values of the organisation are upheld and contribute positively to the culture of the organisation
- Ensure a safe working environment and ensure reasonable self-care and care of others
- Ability to travel across the Pilbara including overnight stays
