An exciting and unique opportunity awaits. A role that demands the proficiency and savviness of a seasoned commercial or contract lawyer. In this role, you'll be deeply integrated within the Queensland Treasury's Investment Attraction team. This team is the driving force behind strengthening and diversifying the economy of Queensland through private sector investment attraction and facilitation. As a guiding force within this team, your specialist legal advice will directly influence the development and management of funding agreements.
In this role, you will:
Support the Investment Attraction team with agreement development and management functions by providing timely, expert and strategic legal advice.
This may involve working with Legal Services to:
• update and develop program template agreements.
• review draft term sheets and agreements.
• develop an agreement management manual to support consistent implementation of agreement management processes and decision making.
• support Investment Attraction's relationship managers to access delivery of contract deliverables.
• Provide advice on agreement management options and amendments
&
• Draft variations to existing agreements.
• Communicate with Investment Attraction staff, Legal Services staff and external stakeholders on a range of legal matters and risks.
• Provide strategic direction on the Investment team's projects by partnering with clients and stakeholders to deliver practical solutions that are consistent with Queensland Treasury and whole-of-government policies and procedures.
• Represent the values and principles of Treasury and the public sector with internal and external stakeholders and through legal products.
What experience you will bring:
• Strong legal knowledge in investment and contract management matters across the public, private and/or not-for-profit sector.
• Strong skills in commercial and contract law and general funding arrangements between Government and private sector entities.
• Skills in building trusted partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
• An understanding of whole-of-government legal requirements.
• High level of written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to delivering a healthy and positive work environment.
The successful candidate must possess the capacity to obtain, or hold, a practising certificate as a legal practitioner in Queensland at the time of the appointment.
