- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $125,693 to $138,510 + super
The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) is seeking a Senior Project Officer, Engagement to support the Education and Engagement Branch in improving water users' understanding of regulations, promoting voluntary compliance, and building trust in the regulatory system. A key focus will be leading a strategic project to integrate Aboriginal cultural values into NRAR’s operations through stakeholder engagement, project management, team development, and cultural initiatives. This role also includes fostering relationships with Aboriginal communities and driving cultural change within NRAR to create an inclusive workplace.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and implement a project to integrate Aboriginal cultural values into NRAR’s operations, providing strategic direction and ensuring successful delivery.
- Develop and manage project plans (timelines, budgets, risks) for effective execution and resource allocation.
- Oversee stakeholder engagement with a culturally sensitive approach to foster strong relationships and meaningful collaboration.
- Build and maintain partnerships with Aboriginal communities, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
- Monitor project resources, progress, and performance, ensuring efficient delivery and timely updates.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations to uphold legal and ethical standards.
- Promote Aboriginal cultural understanding within NRAR’s operations, championing inclusivity and respect.
- Mentor and coach team members to foster a supportive and culturally safe workplace.

- Ensuring project compliance with relevant regulations while adapting to evolving challenges.
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
Key knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in complex or multi-disciplinary projects.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, with diverse groups including Aboriginal communities.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultural protocols and practices.
Essential requirements
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
- A current NSW driver's licence and a willingness to drive to remote locations, which may include overnight or longer stays.
