Why Join Us?

At Connecting Families, we believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive—especially those facing the biggest challenges. We're searching for a dedicated Team Leader to guide and support our frontline teams who care for children with disabilities and complex behavioral needs in Voluntary Out-of-Home Care (VOOHC) settings.

This isn’t just a leadership role—it’s a chance to change lives every single day.

Our CARE Values shape everything we do:

Capable – We nurture talent and foster a strong commitment to our work.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Team Leader to mentor and lead a team of House Leaders and Support Workers in providing specialized care for children with disabilities and complex needs in a Voluntary Out-of-Home Care (VOOHC) setting.

As we continue to build our client base in South Australia, the successful candidate will also be expected to actively support clients on shift at least three times a week.

In this role, you will:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team providing essential care to children in VOOHC.

Support children with complex behavioral needs, ensuring safety and well-being.

Implement behavior management strategies and ensure trauma-informed care.

Build trusting relationships with children, families, and external stakeholders.

Oversee day-to-day operations, including staff coaching and compliance.

Your Impact

As a Team Leader, you will play a critical role in ensuring stability and safety for children in out of-home care. Your leadership will directly shape the quality of care these children receive, helping them build resilience, independence, and brighter futures.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role you should be an experienced care professional with a natural talent for leadership, a deep understanding of complex needs, and a heart committed to empowering children.

What You Bring:

Cert IV or higher in Community Services, Disability, Youth Work, or Aged Care.

5+ years’ experience supporting children with disabilities in residential care.

Proven leadership in a House Leader or Coordinator role.

Expertise in behavioral and trauma-informed care.

Top-tier people skills—coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution—you do it all.

Availability to work flexibly and travel across sites.

Essential Certifications

Working with Children Check

NDIS Worker Screening Check

Recent police check (within six months)

First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Driver’s license and insured vehicle for travel across multiple sites
