We’re proud to be partnering with a large, community-focused organisation in Melbourne’s West that is bringing its maintenance operations in-house as part of a broader strategy to enhance long-term asset performance and infrastructure reliability. Known for delivering critical services across complex public sites, this employer values proactive leadership, sustainable practices, and a high standard of care for the facilities that support their work.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a trade-qualified Facilities and Maintenance Manager ready to take ownership of a dynamic, three-site portfolio. You’ll lead a strategic shift toward preventative maintenance, embed structure and accountability, and play a key role in driving cultural and operational change across a critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-site property and maintenance portfolio, with the Western site requiring high-level responsiveness
- Strategically allocate works to an upskilled in-house trade team—reducing reliance on contractors
- Prioritise competing demands while maintaining strong oversight across all locations
- Transition maintenance delivery from reactive to preventative
- Use asset lifecycle data to guide capital works, stretch asset life, and reduce long-term costs
- Partner with procurement to implement effective preventative maintenance contracts
- Be both visible on the ground and influential at the leadership table
- Drive a cultural shift that makes this site a model of proactive, data-driven asset management
About You
- Trade-qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydraulic Services, with demonstrated leadership in facilities and maintenance management
- Assertive, organised, and results-driven, with the confidence to take initiative and make decisions
- Experienced in managing multiple stakeholders, with the ability to influence at all levels
- Proficient in asset management, capital works planning, and strategic resource allocation
- Background in large, complex facilities—particularly within healthcare, government, corrections, or similar sectors—is highly advantageous
- Ready to take ownership and drive meaningful, long-term change across critical infrastructure
- Hold (or able to obtain) a valid Police Check and Working with Children Check
- A current driver’s licence is essential
Why Apply?
- Work for a well-regarded organisation delivering essential public services in a secure, in-house role
- Be part of a progressive facilities team investing in systems, people, and future-focused operations
- Lead a major site transformation and establish best-practice standards
- Strong internal support, with refreshed trades team and collaborative leadership already in place
- Competitive salary of $120,000 – $130,000 plus super and access to salary packaging
- Generous leave entitlements: 5 weeks of annual leave plus 1 RDO each month
Ready to lead real change in a critical, community-focused environment? Apply now to make your mark in one of Melbourne’s most essential service sectors.
