Manager, Project Services

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manager, Project Services to spearhead the design and delivery of large-scale, complex, and client-focused projects within our Government Records Repository (GRR) Services Division. In this role, you will lead a variety of strategic initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. You will also implement a blend of direct and matrix leadership models to achieve on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and service.

The Government Records Repository (GRR) is the Commercial Services division of MHNSW, offering records management services to government departments. These services are aligned to the requirements outlined in the State Records Act 1998. The GRR operates a world-class storage facility in the Western Sydney Records Centre (WSRC) in Kingswood, NSW providing for the special storage requirements of records, their retrieval and ultimately their disposal. The GRR was established in 1955 and began operating from the WSRC site in 1974.

What the opportunity is:

  • Employment with Museums of History NSW.
  • Clerk Grade 9/10 Remuneration package includes salary ($125,693 - $138,510), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Full-time employment on an ongoing basis (35 hours per week).
  • The role may be required to work across Sydney as directed and is primarily based at the Western Sydney Records Centre, Kingswood.

What we do

MHNSW brings together the museums, historic houses and associated collections previously in the care of Sydney Living Museums with the vast collection of more than 13 million items held by the former NSW State Archives. This includes one of the world’s most complete and important collections documenting colonisation.

What you’ll do with us

The role is responsible to lead the design, management and delivery of large, complex client focussed data entry/digitization/conservation projects and service offerings for GRR ensuring successful on-target delivery through a mixture of direct and matrix leadership models.

The successful candidate will draw on experience across four primary fields including Commercial, Government , People and Records Management. They will also have a high level of experience in repository management, data entry and similar IT systems. and experience in leading a large team within government agency.

What you need to tell us - Targeted questions:

  1. The Manager, Project Services is required to oversee the design and delivery of high quality and accurate data entry/digitization services on a commercial basis for NSW government clients. Please describe a time when you have delivered these types of services to highly structured and complex standards (e.g., official retention and disposal authorities, complex digitisation specifications) where strict rules in relation to information privacy and recordkeeping were adhered to. How did you ensure the customers requirements were clearly understood and what measures did you put in place to monitor/measure performance, tracking, quality and delivery of the agreed service?
  2. The Manager Project Services is required to manage a large team of 20+ people in the use of a broad range of technologies to deliver significant data entry/digitisation projects generating revenue in excess of $2m over a 12 month period. Please describe your experience in managing a large team within a government organization and how you approach building and developing a high-performing team.

Essential requirements of the role:

  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Records Management or Supply Chain/Logistics Management Projects and Services, including use of packages such as O’Neil Software’s RS-SQL.
  • Experience in a managing multiple team members and projects/services in a high demand environment to agreed timeframes and within cost projections.
  • Experience leading large and complex Information Processing, and/or Digitisation, and/or Logistics projects
  • Experience scoping customer requirements, services and projects that are to be delivered in collaboration with multiple functional area’s.
  • Ability to participate in after-hours call roster, including attending to call outs.
  • Have a current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances.
