Senior Guardian – NSW (Multiple Locations) – Make a Real Difference
At ACM, we’re proud to partner with organisations that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Right now, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Guardian to join a dedicated team delivering Guardianship services across New South Wales - 4 Month Contract.
This is more than a job – it’s an opportunity to advocate for the rights and wellbeing of people with disabilities, to influence systems for better outcomes, and to provide expert guidance and leadership within a complex and rewarding field.
About the Role:
As a Senior Guardian, you’ll play a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community. You'll manage guardianship matters, provide strong decision-making in line with legislative frameworks, and supervise and mentor staff, all while acting with empathy, respect, and integrity.
You can be based in Wollongong, Gosford, Newcastle, Sydney or Parramatta, depending on your location. A hybrid working model may be available based on your knowledge and experience.
What You'll Be Doing:
Develop and implement decision-making plans that promote the best outcomes for individuals under guardianship
Prepare reports, submissions, and recommendations for senior officers, NCAT, and the Public Guardian
Use your delegation authority to make critical decisions in line with legislation and organisational standards
Supervise and support Guardians and support staff in complex cases, approving their reports and providing advice
Liaise with families, carers, medical professionals and service providers on complex guardianship matters
Conduct visits and develop a strong understanding of local services and infrastructure
Engage in systemic advocacy and support strategic improvements in guardianship services
Key Challenges:
Advocating for tailored solutions where options may be limited or non-existent
Managing complex, often urgent matters with empathy and sound judgment
Navigating and influencing service systems like the NDIS, aged care, and mental health sectors to best support clients
About You:
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Proven experience in guardianship, social work, advocacy, disability services, or a related field
A sound understanding of the Guardianship Act and principles of supported decision-making
Strong analytical, reporting, and case management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and compassionately with a broad range of stakeholders
Leadership experience and confidence in guiding others through complex, emotionally sensitive scenarios
Why Join This Team?
You’ll be part of a supportive, values-driven team who are committed to empowering people and influencing positive change. Your expertise will be respected, your voice will be heard, and your impact will be felt.
